We love smoothies at our house, and often have one for either breakfast or lunch. So I’m always on the lookout for unique and different types of smoothies to add to our collection. I knew I had found one as soon as I laid eyes on this beautiful and colorful smoothie. This pretty drink is the creation of Sandra over at Sandra’s Recipes. She came up with it after she received a request for a non-dairy fruit smoothie. I tweaked it by using frozen fruit instead of ice cubes, and added a couple of extra ingredients to suit our families taste. It turned out beautifully, and was a delicious and refreshing drink my whole family enjoyed. I cant wait to experiment with different colors and flavor combinations. The only problem I had was getting two distinct layers. I have some ideas of how to fix that next time, but this drink was just to good to wait and share though. As an added bonus, it’s dairy-free!

Tropical Fruit Smoothie
1st layer:
1 banana, sliced and frozen
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup apple juice
2nd Layer:
1 cup frozen mango
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon lime juice
2 tablespoons honey

In a blender, puree the banana, strawberries and apple juice until smooth. Divide between 2 – 8 oz. glasses and transfer to freezer temporarily.

Rinse blender, then puree mango, pineapple, orange juice, lime juice and honey.

Remove glasses from freezer and gently pour mango mixture over the first layer of smoothie to achieve a layered look.

Serve immediately.

  2. Wow—that is so pretty and tasty sounding. I am trying to make some popsicles and this sounds like it would work good and be really beautiful!
