Apples with Creamy Caramel Dip
Today is a sad reveal for the Secret Recipe Club. Recently one of our members passed away. It was unexpected and sudden, and left all of us in shock. I cant even begin to imagine what his family is going through.
Apples with Creamy Caramel Dip
His name was Daniel, and him and his wife Meredith shared some wonderful recipes on their blog The Haggis and The Herring. Daniel loved to cook, and that shines through on their blog.
Daniel’s wife Meredith wrote a very touching and heartfelt eulogy that she shared on their blog. You can view it and leave your condolences if you would like by going HERE.
So as a special tribute, we are dedicating this reveal to him. We hope in some small way this will let his wife and family know how much we enjoyed having him in the club, and that his love of food and the kindness he showed others in the groups did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
For my tribute pick I chose Daniel’s recipe for Apples with Creamy Caramel Dip. I’ve been wanting to make this recipe for quite awhile, and with apples being at their peak right now I knew it was the perfect time. The only thing I did different to the recipe was add a splash of milk to make it a bit more spreadable. Other then that the recipe is exactly the same. It turned out delicious and I have prepared it twice so far. It will definitely be made several more times as well before apple season is over.
Thank you Daniel for a yummy treat that me and my family really enjoy. I am so sorry your time on earth was cut short, and my thoughts and prayers are with your family.
This is the perfect snack for all those Fall apples that are in season right now.
Beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
Add the brown sugar and milk and beat to combine.
Spoon mixture into a shallow bowl.
Sprinkle with the crushed candy bars, then drizzle with caramel sauce.
Core and slice the apples, drizzle with lemon juice and toss lightly to coat.
Arrange apple slices on a plate surrounding the bowl of dip.
Serve and enjoy.

How sad! This looks delicious. Thanks for sharing at Must Try Monday.
I haven’t seen a Skor bar in a LONG time. What a fun recipe. I’m not a big fan of plain apples so any kind of dressing is a good thing to me, especially a sweet one.
Ooh, this looks so good to try! Love the Skor bars on top!
Oh, and well said on the tribute. Hard to write, but I’m sure what his family has gone through is even harder!
