It’s here, March has finally arrived! I apologize for being mia on menu planning the last several weeks. Ah the joys of a sinus infection. It sure doesn’t leave one in the mood to cook. Thank goodness I have such an understanding husband, who was willing to take over the cooking duties for me.

We’re still in the grips of old man Winter here on the homestead, but inside I’m in full Spring mode. I just planted some herbs to try out a new AuqaFarm I’m testing, and have drawn up my planting guide for the year. While it seems like warm weather will never arrive so I can get my garden started, I know it’s only a matter of time before I’ll be enjoy fresh veggies that I grew myself.

We’ll be having more cold weather this week here on the Homestead. The good news though, is that it’s not going to be the severe below 0 temps we’ve been dealing with for the last month. It’s mainly going to be in the 30′s which is a heat wave almost! :) I seen one sign of encouragement a couple of days ago, geese were flying North over our home on Friday!

That means one of two things, either the geese were lost, or Spring will be arriving shortly. I’m hoping really hard that it’s that second option.

I’m almost afraid to say anything, but I think I’m finally starting to feel a little better. I tell ya, this flu has kicked my butt. It’s a bad one, and after listening to the news yesterday, most of the U.S. is down with it. Hopefully my family has seen the last of Mr. Flu.

It’s been a bad time healthwise for us here on the homestead since Thanksgiving. It seems like no sooner does one of us get over the flu or a stomach virus, then another person has it. Before you know it, it’s been through all 10 of us, then starts all over again with a new bug. No amount of healthy eating, vitamin C or lysol spray seems to help either. I’m at my wits end on what to do, and can only pray for an early Spring, so we can open the windows wide to let fresh air in. Hopefully we don’t have to wait that long for us to feel better, but it’s not looking like it at this point. So there will be lots of foods rich in vitamin C, healthy soups and smoothies on the menu this week to help us build our immune systems up.
