Many people are substituting homemade items for store bought now-a-days when possible. Some may do it because they are out of a certain ingredient and need it right away for a recipe. Others, like me though, do it because of wanting to feed their family wholesome food, that isn’t full of artificial junk. Cream soup is in quite a few recipes, and now you can make them guilt free by using this yummy substitute.

Cream Of “Anything” Soup Mix
Adapted From: Hillbilly Housewife

2 cups powdered milk
1/2 cup arrowroot powder (3/4 cup cornstarch may be used)
1/4 cup chicken bouillon granules
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon pepper

To Use The Mix:

Combine 1/3 cup of the mix with 1 cup of water and heat it over medium low heat in a small saucepan until it starts to thicken. This is the equivalent of one can of soup.

*Variations: add 1/2 c. minced or chopped and sauteed *_________*

Mushrooms, Asparagus, Broccoli, Celery, Diced Potatoes, Tomato etc.
