Crock Pot Soup Beans ‘Pintos’
categories: beans
Nothing brings back comfort food memories from my childhood faster than a pot of pinto beans. It’s so simple. You can leave the house all day and come home, make a pan of corn bread, fry some potatoes up and there you have it, a Southern meal that will warm both your stomach and your heart.
Crock Pot Soup Beans ‘Pintos’
Ingredients
- 1-1 lb. bag of beans
- 3 slices bacon, or a ham hock
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- Water
Directions
- Sort through beans and remove any pebbles or bad beans.
- Place beans in a large bowl and cover with about 2 inches of water. Soak them over night.
- Drain, then place in a crock pot with bacon and cover again with about 2 inches of fresh water.
- Turn the temp to High and cook 1 hour, then turn temp down to LOW and let cook for another 7 to 8 hours, or till beans are tender but not mushy.
- Add salt during the last hour of cooking.
