Homemade Taco Seasoning

Posted in DIY Foods

Browse my site and you will notice that I love making things from scratch. I haven’t made a cake from a boxed mix in quite a few years. Homemade just taste better to me, my family agrees, and I’d much rather serve them something that has ingredients I can actually pronounce. Meaning no additives or preservatives.

Homemade Taco Seasoning

Today I’m sharing with you my taco seasoning mix. It is super easy to make, will only take you about 5 minutes to put together, and uses spices that most of us always have in our pantry. It also taste a lot better then those little store-bought packages of taco seasoning. Did I mention it’s way cheaper then store-bought? Why not make your own?!

Homemade Taco Seasoning

Three Tablespoons of Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix is equal to a store bought, 4-ounce package of taco seasoning mix.

1/2 cup chili powder
1/4 cup onion powder
1/8 cup ground cumin
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon paprika
1 Tablespoon salt

Place all of the ingredients into a jar and shake to combine.

To Use: Brown 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef. Drain grease and return beef to pan.

Add 3 tablespoons of seasoning mix, along with 1/2 cup water to the beef.

Stir well and cook over medium heat until most of the water has evaporated, stirring occasionally. This should only take a few minutes.

Enjoy with your favorite tortillas and taco toppings.

Notes

Make sure to shake the seasoning mix up again by giving it a few shakes before each use, to ensure the spices are well blended.

I too was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and after a year of being told to live with it, I dug into my own research and have completely changed my diet, added certain herbs and vitamins, and feel so much better. Fresh, clean eating is the secret for sure. I can’t wait to read more of your blog. Good luck to you~
