Homestyle Mashed Potatoes

Posted in vegetables

Mashed potatoes seem like such an easy thing to make, but you would be surprised at how few people can make this tasty side dish properly. It’s easy really, and far superior in taste then those boxed varieties you find on store shelves.

Homestyle Mashed Potatoes

Fluffy Mashed Potatoes
5 large potatoes
1/3 cup evaporated milk, or whole milk
3 Tbs. butter
salt and pepper to taste

Peel the potatoes, cut into chunks and rinse in cold water, then place into a medium sized pot. Cover with fresh water.

Place the pan over medium high heat and boil until tender. This usually takes about 15 minutes once the water is boiling. Drain potatoes well.

Add the milk, butter and seasonings.

Using a hand masher, mash the potatoes until all ingredients are combined. Add a bit more milk if potatoes are to dry. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
