August is fast approaching and you know what that means… Indiana State Fair time! Fair time is always exciting for me. The sights and sounds of the rides and exhibits, the smell of all that yummy food. I still get that feeling of being a little girl in awe of it all, even as an adult. This year the fair runs from August 3-19th, and I cant wait to go.
This year, during the Indiana State Fair, Indiana’s Family of Farmers has a recipe trail that you can follow and participate in to help feed Indiana’s hungry AND win a prize for your family! For every person who participates, one pound of food will be donated to an Indiana food bank, with a goal of 3000 pounds! It’s so easy and did I mention that in addition to helping hungry families in Indiana, you can win a Frigidaire® chest freezer?
Participants just need to collect recipe cards from 8 locations around the Fairgrounds and bring them to the Family of Farmers Booth at the DuPont Food Pavilion where they will collect their 9th card. There, they will win a special prize for completing the trail and have a chance to register for the daily dairy giveaway and the grand prize of a Frigidaire® chest freezer!
The IFOF’s recipe cards will feature recipes from real farmers around Indiana and highlight Indiana’s commodities such as pork, beef, poultry, soybeans, corn, lamb, fish and dairy along with an Indiana wine pairing. On the flip side of the cards, State Fair goers will meet the farmer and read a personal food story from his or her family.

I love the hustle and bustle & general fair atmosphere- so much activity everywhere! It stresses my husband out, but I think it's fun.
I always liked the livestock barns. May be part of why we're kinda turning into our own personal petting zoo over here!

We like to go sit and watch the horse shows. We try to guess the winner in each category! Thank you for the chance to win tickets!
Our favorite things are walking through the barns looking at the animals, eating, watching the harness racing, eating, looking at the antique tractors, eating, looking at the 4H crafts, and eating… :)
My now-5-year-old son is in love with tractors, so we always spend time with the tractors. We go through the animal barns, too. This time of year is our favorite time of year! Summer means STATE FAIR!! Thank you for the giveaway!
The best part of the fair, is seeing all the 4H kids getting to show off their animals and projects.

I love going thru the barns and have to get a CANDY apple, our county fair doesn't have them anymore and I can't wait for the State Fair so I can get one…I have taken several people who have never gone before to the fair and now they go every year, they love it also now…
We love so many things and can't wait to go back again this year. We always have to go multiple times because there is so much to do. Love the free concerts, love the mini hands on the farm exhibit, love the lumberjacks, the piglets, the exhibit hall, the cockroach races, the fishing, the buttery corn….on and on, it's so fabulous. Can't wait!
