Non-Toxic Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Posted in DIY Cleaners

If your a regular reader of my blog, you know how much I love making things homemade whenever possible. This includes cleaning products as well as food. After talking to a few of my bloggy friends recently, I realized I wasn’t the only one who wanted to use homemade cleaners. Which is understandable. Not only are homemade cleaners cheaper, but they’re safer for us and the environment.

Don’t think so? Take a look at the list of ingredients of cleaners you have in your home right now. Every one of them have a warning, caution, poison, or danger label don’t they? I for one refuse to use something to clean my house, that is a threat to my families health, not when non-toxic cleaners do just as an effective job.

Vinegar and Baking Soda

Which brings me to today’s recipe for what I use to make my toilet bowl cleaner. With only two ingredients it is easy to use and only costs pennies to make. That’s right, just two, baking soda and vinegar. Vinegar is a mild acid, it disinfects and eliminates odors, while baking soda is wonderful for scouring and deodorizing the toilet bowl. The two together combine to make the perfect natural, non-toxic cleaner.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner
1 cup vinegar
1 cup baking soda

Pour the vinegar and baking soda into the bowl and get ready for some fun, because it is going to foam and fizz like crazy.

Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes, then use your scrubber to clean the inside of the bowl.
