Do I have a yummy sandwich to share with you today, Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes. This recipe is so easy to put together and tastes amazing! This version puts a twist on the Philly Cheesesteak and uses ground beef instead of steak. Frugal eating at it’s best.

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

So not only is it tasty, with all the flavor of a Philly, but economical too. If you are a Philly Cheesesteak lover and you’re looking for a twist on this traditional favorite, then this one is for you!

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes
1 lb. ground beef/chuck
1/4 cup steak sauce
1 cup beef broth
1 med. onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1/2 cup mushrooms, chopped
Provolone cheese, pre-sliced
Salt & Pepper to taste
Buns/Rolls

Preheat broiler.

In large skillet over medium-high heat brown the ground beef for about 5-6 minutes. Add the onion, green pepper and mushrooms and cook another 3-4 minutes, or until they start to become tender. Stir in the steak sauce and beef broth, season with salt and pepper, and bring up to a boil. Cook for about 2 minutes more, or until the sauce starts to thicken.

Split open rolls and place a slice of cheese on one side and toast under the broiler, being watchful so they don't burn.

Place a scoopful of the meat on the bottom half of the bun, drizzle with additional steak sauce and place cheesy bun on top.

  1. Hi :o ) I love your blog. This recipe looks so good. I would like to ask what kind of steak sauce you use?

    Thanks,
    Terry

  2. Hi Terry and thank you! : ) I used A1 steak sauce in this recipe, but I’m sure using your favorite brand would work just fine. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family did.

  3. I’m not a fan of cheesesteaks but I know if I leave this area, I’ll crave a Pat’s cheesesteak like nothing else. It’s the same with the shore since we’re fortunate to live so close to it, that if I move away, I’ll just miss Ocean City sooo much. I can’t stand sand either :)

If you haven’t been to Philly for the real deal, you should visit and take a culinary tour of South Street and beyond.

  4. Found your blog through Show Off Friday. I LOVE cheesesteaks. My husband and I take our kids to the Cheesesteak shop at least once a month. This would be great to make in our own home. Thank you!

  10. Hi again :o ) I cooked these for dinner last night and they were great. We loved them. Also made home made french fries and served it all with sweet pickles that I canned a couple of weeks ago. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe.
